History
In 1975, a group of local parents established a Preschool in Rushville. In a rural area with many isolated and low income families, few community resources, and no public transportation, the desire for additional services was soon expressed by participating families.
The organization, founded by those parents, has since evolved from a parent-cooperative preschool in Rushville to a unique family-centered service organization with locations in Rushville, Penn Yan, Geneva, and Seneca Falls. Known for 20 years as the Child Development Center, we changed our name in 2000 to Child and Family Resources, Inc. The center's programs continue to offer support of the educational, emotional, and social needs of families and children of all ages.
Child and Family Resources, Inc. is Best Practice Certified
Throughout New York State, Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (CCR&Rs) are an invaluable link between families, child care providers, and communities. CCR&Rs educate families about high-quality care and help them find it; recruit and train new providers; offer providers technical assistance; and encourage government, business leaders, and the public to support the expansion of high-quality services. In 2006, Child & Family Resources began the process of certification including an agency self assessment, policy and practice evaluation and an on-site review. Successful completion of the certification signifies that the CCR&R is a high quality, professionally run organization that uses sound business practices.
Child and Family Resources has been recognized by New York State Child Care Coordinating Council for the successful completion of the Best Practices Certification Process. For assistance with questions or concerns regarding the quality of child care resource and referral service delivery please contact our Executive Director.
