The New York State Office of Children and Family Services provides a range of resources to help parents with their child care needs, people who want to start or are currently running child care programs, and anyone with a concern about the health or safety of a child in a day care program.  Updated regulations, policy changes or other news in child care can be found at the OCFS Website.  

School Immunization Rules and Regulations have Changed.

School immunization rules and regulations have changed. The requirements are now consistent with the most current childhood and adolescent immunization recommendations.

Additional Information and Forms for Record Keeping:

 The OCFS website has posted the new regulations. After clicking on the link, one must scroll down to find Parts 413 Definitions, 417 FDC & 416 GFDC, they are mixed in with other approved documents. Please be sure to review and print the new regulations. If you do not have a printer, CFR Registration Coordinator understanding is that you can call to request a copy at: 518-474-9454

 

On November 14th, the OCFS Video Teleconference training entitled: Administration and Management with a Focus on Child Day Care Regulations.

 

Family Child Care & School Age Child Care Registration

 

Child and Family Resources is contracted by the Office of Children and Family Services and the local department of Social Services to provide registration and inspection services to new and existing family child care and school age child care programs.

 

The Family Child Care Information Session is the first step in the Family Child Care registration process. This session is recommended for those interested in becoming registered home child care providers. Topics discussed will include business responsibilities, paperwork procedures and provider support services within the community.  Participants will learn of local resource and referral services, available Health and Safety Start-up grants, tax benefits, as well as pre and post registration training opportunities. These services include:

  • Recruiting potential programs
  • Assisting providers with the application process
  • Providing technical assistance regarding setup, programming and regulations
  • Inspecting all programs prior to registration and inspecting 50% of registered providers annually
  • Complaint investigation, check 6 Quality Indicators for An Important First Step

Legally Exempt Child Care Enrollment

Child and Family Resources is contracted to provide technical assistance and enrollment processes to legally exempt child care providers serving low income children and families.  Enrollment staff work closely with the Department of Social Services Subsidy Units in Ontario, Seneca and Yates Counties to provide support to working families. Legally Exempt providers are eligible for an enhanced pay rate if they complete 10 hours of accepted trainings.

 

These services include:

  • Review of enrollment package
  • Approval of Legally Exempt provider applications
  • Health and Safety Grants
  • On-Site inspections and technical assistance visits
  • Technical assistance and training to improve quality of care
  • Trainings accepted towards the enhanced pay rate can be found in the Professional Development for Child Care Programs Catalog 2016 and will be included in the Identified Audience labeled LE.
